BPC-157 & How to Enhance Healing, Gut Health, & Brain Health

Before we start, I'd like to share why I chose to use BPC-157 in myself & select clients:

Firstly, the risk to benefit ratio is excellent & this is where I start for any type of treatment. If there aren't any major risks & there are potential benefits then why not give it a try? Secondly, it's a synthesized version of anaturally occurring gastric peptide, & as a lifestyle psychiatrist, I love naturally occurring molecules, synthesized or not the body has experienced them before & less likely to have some strange reaction. Finally, when I saw it popularized by great scientists & athletes such as Andrew Huberman & Joe Rogan I decided to make the leap despite the fact that doing subcutaneous injections were uncomfortable & new to me.

So, here was my experience:

Both of my knees had been giving my problems since college football & then they finished off by jiu jitsu that led to self-diagnosed meniscus tears. They clicked, clacked, & hurt with running & mobility work. So, I took the standard BPC-157 500 mcg daily subcutaneously in my abdomen x 14 days. After the 2 week cycle.. they were freakishly better. The clicking & clacking stopped, & I was able to run & do Jiu Jitsu pain free.

This was something I never thought possible. Now, to be frank I did all  the necessary rehab, nutrition, & sleep to facilitate the healing as well. However, I was consistently doing those things beforehand with minimal change.

This peptide does act throughout your whole body. Other changes I noticed were my gut health improved drastically, as I do have a history of irritable bowels after antibiotic overuse for cystic acne & chronic stress from PTSD. This looks like more regular bowel movements, & no more heartburn. In general, my body just felt good. My gym sessions were great, I felt fluid, & youthful in my movements. Also, I did notice improved mood & focus. This makes sense given the gut-brain axis & relationship of neuroinflammation in depression/ADHD. Finally, my deep sleep was excellent, & I woke up early while still feeling refreshed. Initially, this was good, but towards the end I realized my REM sleep & dreams were decreased & this led to some negative effects with prolonged use. Later I learned that this is commonly reported & something to be aware of.

1 year later & my knees are still feeling great & I have since used it in many clients with great effects for both bodily pains & also improvements in mental health!

So, here's the overview & how you can get started.

Important Considerations:

BPC stands for Body Protective Compound:

BPC-157, also known as stable analog of gastric inhibitory peptide, is a synthetic peptide derived from the human stomach. This peptide has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential therapeutic applications, particularly in the realm of tissue repair, wound healing, & central nervous system health. It is important to note that it is not approved by the FDA & a majority of the data is from animal model studies & from anecdotal data from millions of users via the internet.

How Does BPC-157 Help?

  1. Promotes Angiogenesis:BPC-157 stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, a crucial process for tissue repair and regeneration. Increased blood flow delivers essential nutrients and oxygen to damaged areas, facilitating healing.

  2. Reduces Inflammation:Chronic inflammation can hinder the healing process as well as brain function. BPC-157 possesses anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce systemic swelling, pain, and tissue damage.

  3. Stimulates Cell Proliferation:BPC-157 promotes the growth and multiplication of cells, aiding in the reconstruction of damaged tissues.

  4. Enhances Collagen Synthesis:Collagen is a vital protein for connective tissue repair. BPC-157 can stimulate the production of collagen, leading to stronger and healthier tissues

Potential Applications of BPC-157

While more research is needed, BPC-157 has shown promise in treating a variety of conditions, including:

  • Muscle injuries:Tendonitis, muscle tears, and strains

  • Joint injuries:Arthritis, ligament tears

  • Digestive disorders:Ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease

  • Skin wounds:Burns, cuts, and diabetic ulcers

  • Mental Health: Depression, ADHD, chronic stress, behavioral issues

How to Use BPC-157

BPC-157 is typically administered through injections though there are oral versions available. In general, the injections appear to work better for injuries, where the oral versions still reach & help the gut effectively.

The dosage and frequency of injections or oral versions can vary depending on the specific condition being treated and the individual's response.

There is an abundance of research on BPC-157 and it has been shown to be effective systematically when injected once daily at anywhere from 1-10mcg per kg of body weight. In most cases, this comes out to a dose of anywhere from 200mcg up to 800mcg. The general consensus for dosing is twice per day with 250-350mcg for a total of 500-700mcg per day.

It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before using BPC-157 to ensure proper usage and to discuss any potential risks or side effects. If you're interested in specifics for you feel free to reach out to Dr. Morrell via the chat box on our website.

Where to find injectable BPC-157, syringes, & reconstitution fluid?

BPC-157 is widely available on several sites, however, always seek quality when shopping online & do your research.

As a clinician, I access them from a compounding pharmacy.

If you are a layperson, I have also used & had success with www.peptidesciences.com
